Only fifteen Rolls-Royce Phantom Pinnacle Travel Collection cars have been made and they form part of a limited collection designed by the team at Bespoke Design Studios, Rolls-Royces creative division in Goodwood, England thats dedicated to producing vehicles of the utmost exclusivity, manufactured to the exacting fancies of their clients; The English term bespoke is equivalent to the North American term custom-made. Synonymous with "tailored" and "hand-crafted", the term arose among the tailors in Londons Mayfair neighbourhood centuries ago to designate tailored clothing and, more specifically, those manufactured using moulds unique to each client.
In the last five years, a successful new movement of bespoke goods has been increasingly important in the luxury market and the trend has even extended to the software market. Almost 95% of Rolls-Royce cars are customised to the clients wishes, reinforcing the firms image as a renowned luxury brand that meets the demands of its customers.
Unveiled at the Beijing Motor Show, the Rolls-Royce Phantom Pinnacle Travel Collection fits perfectly into this category, as its design was tailored to the Chinese market. For this reason, the car is especially sumptuous and adorned with voluptuously elegant art deco details. As a means of expressing its opulence, comfort and spaciousness, the car lines were drawn from the inspiration of classic intercontinental luxury trains; If a two-tone paint finish is desired for the solid bodywork, the client may select from a sophisticated palette of colours. Very much like an invitation to travel, the exterior surfaces of the model presented by Rolls-Royce at the motor show were painted in Smoky Quartz and Cornish White, a colour-scheme that perfectly expressed the abstract motif representing a moving train.
On the inside Seashell-coloured leather upholstery and Morello Red wool floor mats create a cosy and sensual atmosphere. The fantastic hand-crafted art deco motif marquetry, magically assembled from 230 individual pieces of wood, suggests a train speeding to the horizon and trailing plumes of steam in its wake. The motif is carried on to the leather door panels where the grey smoke embroidery is achieved through 24,633 stitches; With these limited editions, Rolls-Royce continues on a mission in which it is an experienced leader: the world of luxury goods tailored in accordance with their clients visions; in this case, a long, opulent and comfortable journey to the ends of Oriental splendour.
